I've stayed in some of the best hotels worldwide, but also slept in tents on mountain sides, or grotty campsites, or next to the beach, or crashed on floors, or B&Bs all over, or rented appartments. I needed somewhere incredibly cheap and cheerful close to Waverley Station but also close to Princes Street. I could've stayed literally anywhere but I thought "you know what, I'd love to go back to my student/backpacker days just for an evening" and chose Princes Street Backpackers. I'm so glad I did. So many of the poshest hotels in the world need to take a lesson from the friendliest, most welcoming reception I've ever encountered. The staircase left me gasping for breath but the artwork had me smiling before I reached the entrance. I was greeted with a smile and made to feel welcome even though I may have looked out of place with my suit jacket and leather briefcase. Other people staying were friendly and the whole place was clean and delivered "exactly what it said on the tin". Yes, the beds are basic bunks but the decoration and staff have created a vibe to rival any London, Paris, Manhattan boutique hotel. Thank you.

Hi everyone!

Brendan and I just wanted to say thank you for making us feel so welcome! I will recommend the hostel to others.
By the way, apologies for leaving a container in the Wednesday fridge. We remembered it the moment we set foot on our southbound train- hope the container was able to find a new home.
All the best!
Thank you,

Eve
